Free training opportunities on Open Source technologies for ICT graduates in Gaza – Mercy Corps

Open Source Technologies Training Announcement
for ICT graduates - Gaza Strip

Mercy Corps is a nonprofit international relief and development
organization serving more than 19 million people in 36 countries. Mercy
Corps has had a presence in the West Bank and Gaza since the 1980s,
helping Palestinians meet their immediate needs for survival and find
durable solutions to chronic problems. With offices in East Jerusalem,
Ramallah and Gaza City, Mercy Corps implements programs throughout the
Palestinian territories.

Through the USAID-funded Palestinian Community Assistance Program (PCAP),
Mercy Corps is offering training on Open Source technologies for 150
recent youth Information and Communications Technology (ICT) graduates
from the Gaza Strip. This training program will be conducted in
partnership with a local training institution and is scheduled to begin in
June 2011.

Goals and Overview:
Open Source technologies training aims at producing more high-level Open
Source software developers among ICT graduates in the Gaza Strip by
building the capacity of trainees to create innovative solutions to
business problems using Open Source technologies. The training program
will focus on providing advanced training on Open Source platforms
including: operating systems, applications, programming design and content
management systems.

Eligibility:
•ICT graduate from 2008-2011.
•Graduated with an average of 75% or above.
•Proven programming experience in at least one IT-programming language.
•Knowledge of Open Source technologies will be an advantage.
•Good knowledge of the English language.
•Female applicants are highly encouraged.
